  This issue reports on early research being conducted into the relationship between traditional leaders in KwaZulu Natal and the newly elected regional councils. Through funding from Charles Stewart Mott the IPT is conducting research to examine ways for both traditional leadership and democratic local government to work together in improving lives in rural communties

  We examine the impact of the demarcation process on relationships between the various governmence structures and discuss some of the implications
